1. Introducción 1. Introduction

Childhood apraxia of speech (CAS) is a motor speech disorder characterized by difficulties in planning and programming the movements needed to produce precise, consistent and intelligible speech (ASHA, 2007).

PROMPT (Prompts for Restructuring Oral Muscular Phonetic Targets) is a tactile-kinesthetic approach that organizes intervention according to the Motor Speech Hierarchy and integrates the physical-sensory, cognitive-linguistic and social-emotional domains (Hayden, 2006; PROMPT Institute, 2019).

The physical-sensory domain remained at 60%: it includes structural, sensory and gross motor variables that remained affected, so this stability does not imply an absence of motor changes.

The specific analysis of the speech motor system did show improvements in jaw stability, bilabial contact, lip protrusion and articulatory coordination.

Los aumentos cognitivo-lingüístico y socioemocional reflejan mayor vocabulario espontáneo, iniciativa, respuesta a turnos y autorregulación.The cognitive-linguistic and social-emotional gains reflect greater spontaneous vocabulary, initiative, turn-taking and self-regulation.

17. Conclusiones 17. Conclusions

The PROMPT intervention was associated with clinically relevant changes in jaw stability, labial-facial and lingual coordination, accuracy of articulatory movements, and functional communication.
The progressive reduction in the support needed and the emergence of more stable motor patterns suggest progress toward motor speech autonomy.
FOCUS y la evolución de los dominios cognitivo-lingüístico y socioemocional complementaron los hallazgos motores, con mayor participación y funcionalidad comunicativa.FOCUS and the progression of the cognitive-linguistic and social-emotional domains complemented the motor findings, with greater participation and communicative functionality.

The unchanged physical-sensory score does not imply an absence of specific motor changes, but rather the persistence of structural, sensory and global motor variables not modified over four months.
As this is a single-case study, the findings do not allow causal relationships to be established and cannot be generalized.
